INDONESIAN PRIMATES

With the third largest diversity of primates in the world, the existence of primates is a source of pride for Indonesia for its biological wealth. No less than 64 types of Indonesian primate species spread throughout the archipelago.

From small ones like Tarsier, to big ones like Orangutans. From hiding in the dark of night like the slow loris, to enjoying the twilight like the proboscis monkey. Indonesian primates should be a reflection of our social life. Living in a large community like the Yaki, or living in a small harmonious family like the Siamang.

The celebration of Indonesian Primate Day is held every year on January 30. This commemoration is certainly not just a mere celebration. There is a meaning and a message that always reminds us of the importance of the existence of Indonesian primates, for us to protect, for us to preserve, to remain the pride of Indonesia.
